Deoxidizer is a chemical substance used to remove dissolved oxygen from water, mainly used in boiler water treatment, cooling water systems, hot water circulation systems, and other occasions to prevent corrosion of equipment by oxygen. The components of deoxidizers usually include the following types:

  1. Reducing agents: These compounds can react chemically with oxygen in water to reduce it to other substances, thereby reducing the dissolved oxygen content in water. Common reducing agents include sulfites (such as sodium sulfite Na2SO3), sodium bisulfite (NaHSO3), etc.
Chelating agent: Chelating agent can form stable chelates with metal ions in water, reducing the catalytic effect of metal ions on oxygen and thus slowing down the corrosion process. Common chelating agents include EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) and its salts, NTA (N - (phosphoamide) acetic acid) and its salts, etc.

  2. Iron powder: As a sacrificial anode, iron powder can undergo an oxidation-reduction reaction with oxygen in water, sacrificing itself to protect equipment from corrosion. Iron powder is a commonly used physical deoxygenation method.
Catalysts: Some deoxidizers may contain catalysts that can accelerate the reduction reaction and improve deoxygenation efficiency. For example, some deoxidizers may contain metal powders such as copper and silver as catalysts.

  3. Stabilizers and buffering agents: In order to prevent the decomposition of deoxidizers during storage and use, stabilizers may be added. Meanwhile, in order to maintain the effectiveness of the deoxidizer within a certain pH range, buffering agents may be added to adjust the pH value.

  4. Corrosion inhibitor: The deoxidizer may also contain corrosion inhibitors to reduce the corrosive effect of oxygen in water on metal equipment. These corrosion inhibitors are usually substances that can form protective films, such as phosphates, polyphosphates, etc.

  5. Other additives: Depending on specific application requirements, other additives may be added to the deoxidizer, such as dispersants, cleaning agents, fungicides, etc., to improve the deoxygenation effect and system operation efficiency.

It should be noted that different formulations of deoxidizers may vary, and the specific ingredients and proportions may be adjusted according to the manufacturer's formula and special requirements of the application. When using deoxidizers, it is necessary to strictly follow the manufacturer's guidance and safety regulations to ensure the deoxygenation effect and safe operation of the system. At the same time, water quality should be regularly monitored to ensure the effectiveness of deoxidizers and the long-term stable operation of the system.
